lexington tap handle
This beer tap handle was inspired by wooden staves used to hold barrel caskstogether. The challenge was balancing the client’s expectations with their budget, the solution was to develop a hybrid tap that was a half molded halfplate design to accomodate an interchangeable feature.

Tap Evolution
The requirement for this tap was including a feature that could accomodate interchangeable cards. This posed a weight challenge as well as a demolding limitation as the molds were built in two parts. I was able to mold in the deboss for the card slot and with the addition of metal plates to hold the cards in place I developeed a lightweight solution that gave the overall tap a premium feel. Additionally the client wanted a tap that resembled strips from a wooden cask, this added the challenge of making ceramic look like faux wood from a distance. To mimic the look I developed a vectorized wood grain that we could layer with a neutral colour palette to give a little depth to the graphic.
